dork

So bad. Soooo bad.

I’ve been pretty busy this week. Went to the Stitch n Bitch (I totally dare SFSE to send C & D letters to knitbloggers) on Tuesday and had fun. Jamie bought me dinner and dessert for this web thing I’m working on with her. And I got all kinds of cool gifties from her too! I also got a bunch of fun gifties from Jocelyn who visited Artfibers to get my giftmas present. I am so super friggin spoiled. Oh, did I mention what I bought for my quitting smoking anniversary? I got a pound of thrums fiber (which is on super-great sale right now) from Spinderella and a city shawl knitting kit. The thrums are already here can you believe it?

Ok so pics..

These are the finished tweedy fuzzy feet before felting.
unFelted Flecked Fuzzyfeet

I felted them tonight because the in-laws were coming by. The photo is terrible because it was still wet and indoors with a flash but I wanted to show how the tweed looked after felting before they left. They did not even think this was odd. So this is the heel.

So they look pretty good. My fil loves his fuzzyfeet. LOVES them. And Cody told me tonight he wanted me to make a pair for him. this is the first time he’s asked for me to knit something for him. He’s just not a sweater or scarf kind of guy. But fuzzyfeet I can do. And since fuzzyfeet have become sort of my canary project before trying a new sock technique I’m going to do his on 2 circulars. Won’t that be exciting? I have no idea what yarn I’m going to use. I might even use the yarn that’s leftover from my other fuzzyfeet projects. Wouldn’t that be cute and interesting?

And here’s my finished Jay

I love this sock. I’m getting very little work done because I keep just looking at the stitch pattern in awe.

You know how new parents are when they just can’t stop taking photos of their baby? I’m pretty much like that with everything I knit

I have good news, I’ve finally found a religion I can get behind.

There’s a music meme going around but since I did that one not too long ago I thought I’d just show the last few songs I’ve listened to

Wickerman - Pulp
Freedom of Choice - Devo
Time is on my side - Irma Thomas
Rollerskate - Call and Response
Calling Dr. Love - Kiss (heeeeeeee)
Mary Susan - Blood on the Wall
Deceptacon - Le Tigre
You never even called me by my name - David Allan Coe
Don’t make me over - Dionne Warwick
This city never sleeps - Eurythmics
(I can’t get no) Satisfaction - Cat Power (her new album kicks ass too)

And finally I need to get something off my chest. I’ve become addicted to Dancing with the Stars. I tivo and enjoy both the Thursday and Friday night episodes. And it’s all Beverly’s fault. It’s also her fault that I’m trying to get Cody to take me to see Pam Houston read at Bookworks tonight.

I’m doing pretty well today considering I have the pain threshold of a small gnat and had an incredibly invasive dental procedure yesterday. I’m feeling more emotionally bruised than the physical pain really merits. But the words root! canal! are scary and I’m pretty good at feeling sorry for myself. I’m doing my best to just not think about it.

I have plenty to do today to keep myself distracted though. Tonight is the annual Aunts’ ornament party and since a bonafide member of my in-laws will be picking me up at my house there is tidying to be done. Not a whole lot, but enough so that it doesn’t get back to the mil that we live like technologically-inclined fiberholic frat boys who drink sodas instead of beer, even though we definitely do.

I also have laundry to do so I’ll have something non-smelly to wear the next two days. And I’ve loaded the ipod with music and a few books on tape. I’m also packing a book. And much knitting. And some really cool custom merino and silk spinning fiber called “sweet potato” and a drop spindle. And my bathing suit because the in-laws have a humongo hot tub. I like to have something to do at all times there. In case I need to really concentrate and avoid discussing politics and/or god. Well, my teeth aren’t really in good enough shape for tongue biting so I’ve gotta do something!

I’m bummed I’ll be missing Beverly’s big yarn swap tonight. It sounds like it’ll be fun. I did send some yarn in my place so hopefully the little skeins will find good homes and everyone will have fun.

I’ve discovered the good part about knitting gifts for xmaskah: you get to buy cool yarn. Fun!

Apparently when one takes up knitting one suddenly becomes suseptible to an almost viral appreciation of woven baskets.

To wit, I think this design is incredibly cool.

before

after!

I am a basket(cough*case*cough) dork.

After two and a half years of occasional playtime on Pogo I had accumulated in excess of 600k tokens. Not a lot by some standards but a lot to me.

The tokens can be used to enter drawings for cash and physical prizes and I’d been saving them up for one with a prize I really wanted. Until I noticed this new “Pogo Mini” thing yesterday. Then I blew all but 17k playing with my little digital doll.

Yep. I am a digital doll dork.

for interested parties: Firefox and Pogo are not friends. In fact, Pogo is the only reason I will willingly open IE.

While similar to being a cute animal dork I consider being a hedgehog dork a different thing. Anything involving hedgehogs makes my heart go “squee!” Especially when it involves kittens too.

And yes that is the Every time you masturbate God kills a kitten Cliche Kitty!

I have been a cute animal dork as long as I can remember. I am unable to see cute photos of puppy tummies on my computer without doing little virtual tummy pokes by placing my cursor on the photographed tummy and clicking while saying “poke! poke! poke!”

I am now a yarn dork. I actually saw this yarn then put my hand up on the monitor to “pet” it.

I borrowed Cody’s old cowboy hat for the early morning ceremony. Don’t I look loverly in the mornings tho?

Wrote out all the names on a pad..

Cut and folded each one, put them in the hat, and mixed them up a whole lot.

And drew a name!

Congratulations Marie!!

Also I did a bonus drawing and got Jess so you’ll be getting a surprise too!

But thanks to everyone who came by and commented! I had a lot of fun peeking into your wishes. And maybe, just maaaaybe you’ll get a surprise in the mail in the coming year!

I wonder what shrimp ever did to piss god off?
