Too tired for a decent entry so I'll just post photos. We had a marvelous time meeting the delightful Ms. Pearl-McPheeand listening to her wonderful stories. Then some of us snb gals took her out for a beer at the Chama River Brewing Company. She seemed very happy to get the basket of New Mexico goodies Cody and I had picked out for her (we wanted to be sure she didn't get out of here without some chile goodness) and was more than understanding about getting photos with Barry. Or more importantly, having Barry and The Sock pose together.
We even got a little cleavage action. They don't call her The Yarn Harlot for nothin'. ;)

These are what I worked on during her talk.
That's the crazy heels and toes 2 on 2 pattern knit with my Green Tea Frappuccino silk merino handspun. Wahoo! I'm to the heel turn bit now.
I'd say a good time was had by all. It was so nice to have a night out with the gals and really fun to meet this knitblogging, knitwriting, knitting icon and get to casually chat with her over a pint of beer. (And my diet coke). A very good night.
Imagiknit & samovar tea room seriously kick ass in this intersections bvt barry was too tired to pose
and I have been too but not with anything specific. Just. Stuuuff. I've been having random bouts of housewifeyness - not that it really shows much. And I'm to the gusset increases on my toe up 2 socks on 2 circs yes I really kick ass now tyvm. I've knit eight blue squares for Warming Grace's little friend Justin. I bought a potted sunflower and summarily killed it by leaving it in the garage so Phunq wouldn't eat it.
I saved a baby bird that got its little leg stuck in a nest under the porch roof and had been hanging there by his little leg for who knows how long. Its leg is broken but after a nap in a makeshift towel nest it flew off on its own. I've seen birds function with only one leg before so I waited to see if it could fly before considering anything drastic. Winter has had diarrhea this week, which is always a treat. And I really need to do some laundry and another load of dishes but I keep using our household machines for things like felting bags and dyeing roving instead. And I've got to get to the post office.
But Tuesday we went to a farewell party for Beverly at Ramona's lovely house. It was very mellow and enjoyable. It was really cool to be able to hear everyone without the roar of the Flying Star crowd in the background.
And Barry hung out on the hammock with Scout and Strange Little Mama

The rest of us mostly hung out and knit

There are several more pics in this flickr set. (Scout's gonna keeel me about posting one of them but it HAD to be done)
The best part was when it started getting dark and we sat around the fire in the chimnea. That was fun. Of course the worst part was saying bye to Bev. Hopefully she's having a safe trip on the road right now.
Yesterday we played with my new phone's camera feature.
We went to torrid so I could get a new bra for some of my new shirts with plungier necklines
We went to Starbucks
and got a blackberry green tea frappuccino.
All this mall culture consumerism may seem typically American. But no one else is doing it with a little monster handmade from vintage Scandinavian fabric. And if they are they certainly don't have the guts to take photos of him in public.
Melon: Moooooooom there's a package in the mail. Is it haaaaaaaaaam?
The customs form says it's a monster!! Who could it be?
It's BARRY!!
And he brought yarn from Mama-E!! Yay Barry!!
but there really is such a thing as a stupid question. And I've been asked about 80 of them today. Some by professionals who really should know about that whole RTFM thing.
Blah. Let's look at Barry.
And go listen to Stephen Colbert's speech at the White House Correspondant's Dinner from last weekend. It's a beauty.

Barry says thumbs up.

Well, he does from his plush envelope flying somewhere over the Atlantic anyway.
Aww I love that you all love Barry too. He's just so special and odd. Cody thinks that when Barry gets here I should start a series of photos called "Where's Barry?" kind of like the dad's gnome in Amelie and The Yarn Harlot's sock in progress photos. We'll see. In the meantime I thought you'd like to see Barry's flat backside. Barry does not fall into the Big Girl Knits' butt category.
While Cody codes the matching program for dyeorama I'm moving on to the Albuquerque project, and one of the two top secret projects. One secret project is on hiatus for a bit as it's just not time yet. The other one's material arrived in the mail and I'm going to start on it as soon as I finish a square or two for the Warming Grace project. I thought I'd get several squares done but I'll be lucky to have one to bring Ramona tomorrow. Maybe I can get more done and mail them before May 1st? Probably not. Blah. I think I've overbooked myself. I haven't even gotten my wheel out of the travel bag since the last Crafty Friday. And how many weeks ago was that?
Hoping I can go to snb tonight! Promise ya'll I'll be in a much better mood this week!
Who else is in love with those mochi ice cream thingies from Trader Joe's? The mango ones are little balls of bliss frozen to my fingers.
