More Neapolitan colors
filed under: Melty Sandy Cardigan
Remember all that melty ice cream yarn I spun up from roving Cody and his Mom bought for me for xmas?
It’s taken me the longest time to decide what to make with it! With 858 yards of worsted that’s way too much for just a scarf but not exactly enough for a sweater that would fit my um, ampleness, not to mention that I feel like I’ve already got more shawls than I’ll ever actually use (not that there’s a problem with that).
I debated making another clapotis, or maybe a short sleeved ballet t. I’ve been toying with this idea for months.
When I got Big Girl Knits a few months ago I struck upon the perfect pattern:

I’m planning on using the melty ice cream yarn as a substitute for the stripey Kuryeon colors in the center panels and I just happen to have a lovely gift card for Kaleidescope Yarns some good friends in The Netherlands sent for my birthday. It’s even the exact amount for six skeins of the Lamb’s Pride Worsted that the pattern needs for the sides. So I was thinking about making it an extra special sweater using lovely gifted fiber. Yay!
Now on to another major decision…color.
I could go with a somewhat matching brown
(Here’s some of the yarn for reference)

Or I keep thinking maybe to avoid the exact color matching issue altogether and go for a contrasting green?
I keep going back to this Sage..I love this one a whole lot

Or maybe the darker would look better..like Oregano?

Any color suggestions? Should I go with a different yarn altogether that doesn’t have mohair in it? Like Cascade 220 maybe? Help!

I’d go for brown bear or oregano - but that’s just because I like dark colours.
And may I just say that’s a lovely sweater! Wouldn’t mind having one of those myself - maybe I should take up knitting too? It’s gorgeous!!
I like either of the browns — more earthy and more anchoring for the roving. Those colors are fantastic.
Just stopping by but that yarn caught my eye and I decided to through my two cents in since you asked… I would also go with the dark brown. It will pull the trio together plus brown wears well. I think it’ll make that pink really pop too!
I really like the wild oak and I love the sage. But I’m spent my formative years as a preppy wannabe. *L* It’s going to be a beautiful sweater no matter which yarn you go with.
I like the brown bear best, but I think you might wear the Wild Oak more often.
I like the lighter brown. Whether to use LP or Cascade - I think that depends on your handspun, since Cascade is much lighterweight than LP. Also, LP is a single - is your yarn?
I vote for the Brown Bear, and I love the pattern by the way, I think it’ll look awesome!
I love that pattern! I like the dark brown, and the dark green, but the oak is nice too…. Not to be enablingor anything, but couldn’t you get all three and swatch with each to see what’s really good? The VW sale is coming….
“wink, wink”
I’d stick with the two browns and the sage and figure out which color way would be better for your coloring. I’m thinking the dark brown would be best. The lighter colors might wash you out? But you probably know that best.
