Omg it’s an FO!
filed under: ArtFibers Souvenir Shawl ∗ Koigu Birthday Socks
Yeah it’s been a while since I’ve posted photos of a finished project, hasn’t it? These were finished over a month ago but I hadn’t taken photos yet.
Well here are the legendary Toe Up 2 socks on 2 circs made with the Koigu my parents got for my birthday last year. I’m so friggin proud of these. That Crazy Heels and Toes book is really good. A bit hard to follow in some parts but if you read the instructions over a few times and follow slowly you get some great socks!
This is the lengthwise shawl I made with a bunch of cool yarn I bought at ArtFibers when I was in San Francisco so I consider this my major souvenir from the trip. It’s mostly knit on US 15s but I would change needles or yarn whenever I felt like it. I also cut the yarn to make the fringe at the end of every row. As usual the fringe is big and shaggy and varies in lengths. I love that craaazy fringe. I’d say with the fringe this puppy is 8 feet long? Way longer than I am tall anyway. It’s so soft and gorgeous I can’t wait for it to get cold. Next year during that cruise, I’m kidnapping Jocelyn and heading straight for their store the minute we dock.

Yay Artfibers! They were so nice to me when I was trying to find gifts for you last year. I just went in and said “I need yarn for my friend’s birthday” and they asked a lot of questions about what colors you like and what sort of things you knit, and I told them all about how you were spinning, and they helped me find stuff that you a) didn’t have, b) couldn’t spin yourself (just yet) and c) would actually like. I think getting all three of those when I am a totally clueless non-knitter is pretty damn cool.
The socks are great. I think I have to ditch my resistance to that book, lol! And the shawl. The shawl. Just beee-yoo-tif-ul.
Love!
If I could just figure out the short row heel…
oooh, I can’t wait to see that shawl in person!
actually think that is Patricia’s LYS… and they may be setting up something with that…. cool!
hi, i just linked over from yarn harlot. I love the socks, very nice! And the shawl is just fun. That is cool how you did that. I really like it.
Hi there!
I just linked over from Stephanie’s latest entry as well.
I just LOVE your shawl. ArtFibers is right down the street from where I work. I just love that place and the people are such gems! The scarf I just finished is made from their yarn. I too am waiting for the cooler weather so I can wear it…
Take it easy. I’m going to see Stephanie in September out here in Cali - can’t wait!!!
