The ongoing saga of the poncho continues. The four skeins of Silk Garden 47 I picked up at Village were very different from each other - even though they were the same color and dye lot. The colors were very similar among two pairs though so I just decided to roll one of each kind together and treat them like two giant skeins. Then I started to realize that this pattern will need more than four skeins. So I’d bought another skein in a different color altogether and started knitting a stripe of that color in between as I went along.

Then I gave up and ordered more 47 from Yarnmarket and paid for two day shipping. That will be here today. Gee I wonder how these colors will turn out. I honestly can’t tell if this will be a successful project here because sometimes I look at it and think it’s really cute and interesting. Other times I think it looks like a bad 70s imitation Native Americana poncho that keeps haunting me from the inside cover of the new Interweave Knits.

And that damned 234 STILL hasn’t arrived. I gave up the other day and emailed the ebay vendor who wrote back today and basically said they didn’t get a tracking number - saying the next time I order from them (yeah that’ll happen) I should request a tracking number. Well, hell, as an online seller myself I know how friggin cheap and easy it is to get a tracking number and assume they’ll just do it. Blergh.

This is what happens to me when I try to be thrifty with the yarn - I end up spending twice what I would’ve if I’d just sucked it up and paid full price in the first place. I’m about ready to say the hell with it and go get something out of the stash or find a way to the Fiesta Outlet for more La Boheme or something.

Update: Two more skeins of the 47 came in today. They all match and are much more similar to the bottom part of the poncho (rust, dark beige, black) I still have the rest of the other, more colorful skein I’ve been adding at intervals. And I’ve uploaded photos of what I’ve done so far. So go take a look and please tell me what you think. Honestly. Is it great or tacky I honestly can’t tell anymore. And will it look weird being darker on top?
