Sometimes we do the unthinkable and buy a dvd before we’ve seen the movie. Most times it’s something you’re likely to enjoy and want to see again. But then there’s that time when you’ve gambled and lost - and now you’re stuck with a dvd that you’re not likely to watch again.
This has happened to me again. I bought a copy of Big Fish. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it but I just don’t think I’m up to watching it ever again. I don’t like movies that make me cry. I take medication to not cry at the drop of a hat I’d rather not watch movies that induce tears.
So what to do with this dvd that would just gather dust on my shelf? I’m tired of just giving things away to people who won’t use them. I guess I could sell it but Cody had a good suggestion: Offer it up for an exchange.
I really enjoyed the Burn it experience. So I thought it was a great idea.
In the meantime I have this Big Fish DVD that’s looking for a new home. It’s a good movie. The usual Burton Quirk(tm) style with giants and bank robbers and Steve Buscemi with a southern accent. And actual popular music not just the Danny Elfman score which I have to admit all sounds the same to me. And Ewan McGregor (and Albert Finney which has always been a favorite of mine). The DVD has lots of featurettes and stuff.
So check my amazon dvd wish list and see if you have one of these dvds. Or take a look at my media chest and if there’s something I don’t have that you think I’d like send me an email.
And just to show what a kind trusting soul I am I’ll send you my dvd first - I’ll even include my Burn it cd too. Then you can send me your movie. Sound good?
All I ask is that it’s a legally purchased dvd - not a copy. While I adore pirate movies (and games) I’m not much for media piracy. If you don’t have a dvd to exchange you could offer to purchase one off my wish list or let me know what else you have to offer. I’m just experimenting with ideas here.
I’m also going to sign up with this Swappingtons thing and see how that goes.
